Malpensa Airport to experiment Rapid Saliva Test and extend it to all Passengers
On 20th July, the experimental project that SEA has decided to carry out together with the University of Insubria to test and validate the use of the Rapid Saliva Test for the identification of the covid 19 has started. The experimentation will involve Sea employees , on a voluntary basis, and involves saliva and tear touch testing. The airport manager has decided to participate in this initiative in support of the research as the positive outcome of the experimentation would allow the use of saliva tests at the airport also for passengers and this could prove to be an important lever for the resumption of air transport.
The experimentation To Sea, as manager of the Milanese airports and therefore of a basin of particular epidemiological interest, the researchers asked to propose to their own people (up to 300) participation in the test, thus becoming part of the sample of the experiment, which will be addressed only to personnel resident in Lombardy, as the project was born in partnership with the relative health structures.
Mass screening Having a test of this type, if validated, will allow, in the event of a massive return of Covid-19 in the cold months or in the event of future viral pandemics, to have a valuable weapon available for mass screening. In fact, providing a result in no time (a few minutes, in fact), the test will identify positive people before they can enter a crowded place, including airports and air flights. «Participating in this trial offers us an extraordinary possibility», declares Armando Brunini, CEO of Sea. «If the outcome, as we hope, will be positive, the prospect of carrying out the test in such a fast and minimally invasive way will represent a great advantage to return to travel in safety ».
